How to lubricate a treadmill? 4 things you should know

For a treadmill to last and work better for you for longer, you must carry out minimal, but completely necessary, maintenance. The most important? Lubricate the treadmill well.

Although today all of us who have a treadmill know the importance of lubrication from time to time, there are still those who question this care. In this post you will discover the reasons why you should lubricate your treadmill and how to do it , what can happen if you don't and what alternatives we have on the market.

Why do I have to lubricate my treadmill?

If you want your tape to last as long as possible, you should lubricate it from time to time. The belt and running deck rub against each other every time you use the treadmill, wearing out the belt .

Correct lubrication will help reduce this friction, prolonging the life of the device, avoiding annoying noises and improving your training experience .

Treadmill lubrication is key to keeping the belt and motor in good condition

How and when should I lubricate my treadmill?

To know how to lubricate your treadmill and how often to do it , it is best to review and follow the manufacturer's recommendations , but in general we can say that the ideal is to lubricate the belt every 6 weeks or after 40 hours of use. .

To apply it, you just have to:

  1. Disconnect the equipment from the electrical network
  2. Lift the band and introduce the lubricant to the central area
  3. Repeat the process on the other side
  4. Run the machine for 5 minutes at low speed so that it is evenly distributed.

Lubricate your treadmill every 40 hours of use following the manufacturer's instructions

What happens if I don't lubricate my treadmill?

If you do not lubricate your treadmill, it is very likely that it will stop working prematurely. The motor of your treadmill will be damaged due to the increase in tension caused by the rigidity of the belt, and may even cause a breakdown in the electrical equipment .

Additionally, lack of lubrication along with friction will cause the belt to overheat causing the belt to warp or wear prematurely.

Not keeping your treadmill sufficiently lubricated can lead to big problems.

And if I don't want to lubricate my tape, is there another alternative?

Yes. Currently there are alternatives on the market for those who do not want or cannot lubricate a belt when required.

Self-lubricating treadmills incorporate an automatic lubrication system that constantly and controlled releases lubricant into the belt, eliminating the need to apply it manually.

By not having to worry about lubrication, these tapes will increase your comfort and save you a lot of time, however, you will need to ensure that the lubrication system is working properly.

Operation of the self-lubricating system of a treadmill

Stay healthy and avoid future problems by properly lubricating your treadmill and following the manufacturer's recommendations. Lubrication will not only keep your treadmill as good as new for as long as possible, but it will also significantly improve your training experience by eliminating those annoying noises caused by friction.

¡Hola Roberto!
